Consider this about our Christmas hope. John 1:14 reads, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” The glorious, grace-and-truth filled John 1:14 child that was born a human child, was the John 1:1 person that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God became a man so that mankind could be reconciled to God. Christmas is an opportunity to look back at what Jesus did in the past to secure our hope for the future. The reality of God’s promise to bruise the head of the Adversary in Genesis 3 was set in motion at the birth of the Son. Christmas reminds us that what the Bible says is real. Christmas represents a promise fulfilled. Christmas is a timestamp that guarantees our hope! This is why we sing “Come and worship, come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King!”
